About the founder

My name is Katrina and somehow managed to make a brand out of finding myself super funny. I started The Copper Bell in 2019 as a fun, creative outlet that has quickly become bigger than I could have ever imagined. 

In March 2020 I was swept up in a massive company-wide layoff with my former employer and took my side hustle to full-time work. 

Fast forward through a bunch of life and business changes, and this brand went on hiatus in early 2024. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, we returned to glory at the end of 2025 with the help of new partners, Lisa and Ryan. This trio now runs your favourite candle store out of a studio in beautiful Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia.

Why do I get headaches from candles?

I've always been a big candle fan, but started getting headaches from candles after having my daughter in 2017. I was a big Bath and Body Works fan but found that those famous 3-wicks were an instant headache. I gave away every last jar and figured I'd just never burn candles again. 

Are soy candles better? We think so! Since exploring better ingredients, I'm happy to report that I've made the best candles possible. No, seriously! We use organic soy wax, phthalate-free fragrances, and the best puns on the market. No weak scents here! Great smells, unique fragrance blends, and no candle headaches!
